Pincroft Dyeing and Printing Company won the Best Environmental Practice Award for successfully raising staff awareness and delivering significant environmental and economic benefits.
Reusing the water used in the dying process has saved around £200,000 a year. Improving the washers has also removed the need for acetic acid meaning that the wastewater from this can be put back into the system.
As a result, cost savings from effluent were £71,000 a year and annual savings on chemicals reached £20,000.
Headline achievement:
The caustic recovery plant has been upgraded, generating savings of 40 tonnes of caustic soda and £240,000 a year.
