2008 Case Study - Southwaite Green
Built Environment
Southwaite Green won the Built Environment Award in the 'under £1 million' category, for converting a farmhouse and barns into five-star holiday accommodation.
The sustainable holiday properties in Lorton, Cumbria, exemplify sustainable living and incorporate the on-site generation of renewable energy.
Headline achievement:
Energy is generated on site for heating and water and the development makes use of passive solar gain on south facing walls as well as being highly insulated to maximise energy efficiency.
